Terms of Service

Effective July 23, 2026

These terms are a contract between you and HotBoxed Studios LLC, the company that runs Indieable. We've tried to keep them in plain English. The short version: be honest, don't upload anything harmful, developers own their games, testers help at their own risk, and subscriptions renew until you cancel.

1. Who we are

Indieable (indieable.com) is operated by HotBoxed Studios LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("HotBoxed Studios," "we," "us"). You can reach us at contact@hotboxedstudios.com. By using Indieable you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

2. What Indieable is

Indieable helps indie game developers recruit playtesters, distribute builds and keys, and collect structured feedback — and helps players discover playtests to join. There are two roles in these terms: "developers" (people with an account who list games and run playtests) and "testers" (people who apply to playtests; no account needed).

3. Your account

Developers sign in with an email address. Keep your sign-in method secure — you're responsible for activity on your account. Give us accurate information, and don't impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you are or what studio you belong to.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Indieable. If you're under 18, you may only use it with the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf. Individual games may carry their own content or age expectations — developers are responsible for describing their game honestly, and testers should heed those descriptions.

5. Developer content

Developers keep full ownership of everything they upload or enter — builds, keys, artwork, and listing copy. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and distribute that content solely as needed to run the service: showing your playtest page, delivering builds and keys to testers you approve, and sending the emails you trigger. The license ends when you delete the content, except for short-lived backups and logs.

You are solely responsible for your content and your game, and you promise you have all the rights needed to upload and distribute them through Indieable.

6. Inviting testers by email

When you invite testers to a private playtest or otherwise supply email addresses, you confirm you have those people's permission (or another lawful basis) to contact them through Indieable. Addresses that unsubscribe are suppressed platform-wide — don't re-add them or try to work around a suppression.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use Indieable to do any of the following:

  • Upload builds or content containing malware, spyware, miners, or any harmful code.
  • Post content you don't have rights to, or that is unlawful, hateful, or sexually exploitative.
  • Run fake or deceptive playtests (for example, harvesting emails with no real game).
  • Send spam through our email tools, or email people who never opted in.
  • Harass other users, scrape their data, or probe or disrupt the service.
  • Circumvent rate limits, plan limits, or access controls.

We may remove content, close playtests, or suspend accounts that break these rules or put other users at risk.

8. Builds, keys, and downloads

Game builds are developer content, not ours. We don't review, scan, or endorse them, and pre-release software is unstable by nature. If you download and run a build, you do so at your own risk — keep backups and use up-to-date security software. Builds and keys can stop being available at any time (a developer removes them, a hosting window expires, or a plan changes), and we don't guarantee that a key works or that a game will ever release.

9. Feedback you submit as a tester

Playtesting exists so developers can use what you tell them. When you submit feedback, bug reports, or suggestions, you grant the developer of that game a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose, and you grant us the right to process and display them within the service. Playtesting is voluntary and unpaid unless a developer separately promises otherwise — any such promise is between you and the developer. Name credits are optional and controlled by the developer.

10. Pro subscriptions

Pro costs $19.99/month or $189.99/year, billed through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from the billing portal (Manage subscription); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. If we change prices, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change applies at your next renewal. If a payment fails, Pro features continue through a short grace period, then pause until payment succeeds. The weekend trial is limited to one per account, needs no card, and ends automatically.

11. Hosted build storage

Hosting build files on Indieable is a Pro feature. Every hosted build has an expiry date you choose when uploading. When a build expires — or your Pro access ends — downloads stop, and the file is permanently deleted after a short recovery window (currently 7 days). Hosted builds are distribution, not backup: always keep your own copies.

12. Removals, disputes, and infringement claims

Every game page links to a removal request form (for rights holders and anyone asking us to take a page down) and an ownership dispute form. For copyright or trademark complaints you can also email contact@hotboxedstudios.com with the work at issue, where it appears on Indieable, and your contact details and authority to act. We review reports promptly, remove content where appropriate, and terminate repeat infringers.

13. Ending things

You can stop using Indieable and delete your games at any time; deleting a game removes its page and hosted files (details in the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create risk for other users — where reasonable, we'll tell you why. Sections that should naturally outlast the relationship (feedback licenses, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.

14. Disclaimers

Indieable is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. That applies doubly to developer builds and to third-party services we link to or integrate with (Steam, itch.io, Discord, file-sharing links, and similar).

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HotBoxed Studios LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims relating to Indieable is capped at the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

16. Indemnification

If you're a developer, you agree to defend and indemnify HotBoxed Studios LLC against third-party claims arising from your games, builds, content, or your use of our email tools in violation of these terms or the law.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Indieable evolves. For material changes we'll email account holders and/or post prominent notice at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and prior versions are available on request. Using Indieable after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you don't, stop using the service and cancel any subscription.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes belong in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and both sides consent to that venue. Before filing anything, please email us — most problems get fixed faster with a conversation.
